Cushing to lead marketing and outreach efforts for nonprofit empowering immigrants to thrive in the U.S.
One Percent for America (OPA), a nonprofit online platform helping immigrants thrive in the U.S. through strategic partnerships and financial innovation, announced today the hiring of Anne Cushing as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Engagement.
Cushing will lean on her decades of experience in the marketing and advocacy fields to lead engagement, partnership strategy and marketing for OPA, which is sponsored by BlueHub Capital. Cushing is responsible for strategic planning and initiatives, expanding awareness of OPA’s offerings, stewarding membership to the online resource platform and building relationships with organizations advancing and benefiting from OPA’s mission. She will also oversee the growth, success, and operations of the OPA digital platform where immigrants can access 1% interest loans for citizenship fees, education and personal growth resources, and dedicated community support. OPA’s mission is to unite people across the United States to invest in a resilient, inclusive country by reducing the barriers to citizenship.
Throughout her career, Cushing has focused on creating connection and community for mission-focused nonprofits and businesses, expanding growth and impact opportunities that accelerate and advance systemic societal change.
“Anne has the skills and expertise to bring One Percent for America into its next phase of growth and innovation,” said Brenda Loya, who oversees OPA as BlueHub Capital’s Chief Operating Officer. “As OPA expands its services, Anne will be a key leader in effectively communicating and sharing these resources with immigrants, partners and the public.”
OPA has put more than 600 immigrants closer to their citizenship goals by offering 1% interest loans to cover the cost of their fees to submit applications to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), opening the door to greater financial opportunities.
“My passion for community building and social impact is informed by my Cuban roots, a strong belief in the American Dream, and a commitment to public service,” said Cushing. “I am excited to join the talented and passionate team at OPA and leverage my experience for its mission. This opportunity is especially meaningful as I understand personally how this program’s impact and legacy will affect individuals, families and communities for generations.”
Cushing comes to OPA from Brightcove, a streaming technology company, where she led engagement-focused communications, community and marketing strategy as its Director of Community and Advocacy. There she led the build and launch of The Bright Spot, an online community supporting networking and knowledge sharing.
Prior to Brightcove, Cushing was the Director of Marketing and Consumer Engagement at Stonyfield Organic and siggi’s Yogurt. She also ran her own marketing consultancy, ACMC, where she provided marketing, brand and engagement strategy consulting to Fortune 500 companies.
Cushing attended the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and lives in Southern New Hampshire.
Cushing serves on the board of directors of the YMCA of Greater Nashua, and as a volunteer guardian for the Honor Flight Network, a national nonprofit that transports veterans to visit the memorials in Washington D.C. honoring their service.
